Silly Government! Money is for Smart People!

Here is a little link for the masses to help describe the significance of the proposed $100 million dollar budget cuts by President Obama. I think you will enjoy it. If you understand it that is...

  1. After watching this video it is apparent that the proposed budget cuts Obama announced will really do no good. Simply cutting down on our spending sounds great, but when put in comparison with the fractional amount that actually will be cut, it only SOUNDS good. It seems to me that better budget cuts could be made by rethiking the healthcare plan that is requiring so many funds. In all, there could be better attention put to more pertinent matters.

  2. to the average person, 100 million dollars sounds like a ton of money they would be cutting. but when it is put in perspective, we see how small that amount truley is. it is not significant, infact it is a tiny amount taken from a large budget. to me, it is an appeasement made so that Obama looks like hes doing a lot when hes doing hardly anything at all.

  3. I'm a little curious as to how you found this video. However, it does make sense. Like the video said Obama is obviously making it seem as if he is doing something big for the nation, but when put in to comparison to what he could be doing with that amazingly large sum of money, he's really not doing a whole lot. Honestly, Mr. N, my neck hurts and I went home today because I feel pretty crappy....My comment may not even make sense.

  4. It is true that when a number as large as 100 million is mention to a person, that seems extremely large, especially when it comes to money. This is obviously Obama's point. To me it seems arrogent and naive of him to think that American's aren't going to figure out his master plan. He thinks that we aren't going to look beyond what is said on the surface. This amount may seem like a lot when first stated, but in reality, this amount of money is minuscule relative to the amount of money that America does not have. He is just trying to cover up the amount of unnecessary spending he has already done.

  5. I definitely agree with the guy who made this video. With the pennies example, he successfully demonstrates Obama's faults in this situation. In my opinion from what I've seen so far in his presidency, Obama is a lot of talk and no action. This is a perfect example of that mindset because he is telling the world how he plans to make a huge change by cutting 100 million dollars when the truth is, doing so is extremely insignificant to the bigger picture. What is this cut truly helping our country with when it's minuscule size hardly makes a difference compared to the the entire amount of money? Instead of doing something as insignificant as cutting 100 million dollars I believe he should be focusing on bigger problems that may actually bring changes to our country, like he promised.

  6. This is a funny and video, but it has some truth to it. Someone has come up with a video to show every liberal democrat in america that Obama is doing nothing in office. Acctually Obama is taking the easy way out of things instead of acctually doing something he tricks the public into beleive he is but yet he isnt. Iam glad this video exists so every republican in america can sit back and say good ole George W. Bush wouldnt do such a thing to the american public.

  7. My critique of this video is not in the actual content but in its delivery of the content. To me, this video, while somewhat humorous(not really) seems to be a trivialization of what is apparently an important issue: cutting spending and improving the economy. This video does not portray things as they really are as it makes light of important matters and would be ineffective in bringing up a case against President Obama's economic plan. If this person is trying to make a serious point, this was not the way to go about it. In addition, in my opinion, this video seems to also undermine the average American's intelligence. Furthermore, it is a rather one-sided viewpoint. While, Obama's actions may not seem to indicate significant progress, it is certainly a step in the right direction. That is not to say I am in agreement with Obama's clear attempt to exaggerate his achievements. Just trying to add perspective.
Finally, what does this say about effective use of time and the state of one's social life when you are able to arrange countless amounts of pennies on a table in order to perform an asinine demonstration. Just saying.

  8. I would have to say that I have a middle the road opinion on this video. I can understand the point of view that the video maker is trying to convey by showing the insignificance of what Obama is doing while making it seem as something that is greater than it is. I agree that Obama is trying to make the budget plan seem more than it is to try to ease the tension that is occuring in the nation with the economy but I also am in agreeance with the arguement that Joanna brings up. Even though this small step that Obama is taking seems insignificant compared to what he could be doing at least he is taking a step in the right direction. As citizens and residents of the United States criticizing what the President is doing isnt going to help the nation at this moment. If anything we should try to make the change in the economy and other great matters that need to be resolved in our nation. If we also do not like what Obama is doing in Government, we have upcoming elections in November that we could inform others about so they can put wise people in Government that will reperesent want we want. So in conclusion I do not think the budget plan that Obama has created is going to help much with the economy but at least it is a step further to try to help the economy.

  9. The initiative behind good broadcast journalism has always been to present the facts of government while leaving opinions and personal viewpoints to the discretion of its viewers. This video is disappointing, it perceives Americans as nothing more than naive and pliable beings who need to be told hold to think and need guidance from others in order to think accurately. While the penny demonstration effectively shows how minuscule one hundred million dollars is in the grand scheme of federal funding, it failed to give credit to knowledgeable Americans aware of the President's hollow words. It showed how easily lead those who do not participate in government buy into Obama's regime. For example, using one hundred million dollars as making a change while in actuality it is only a mere scratch in the surface to the recovery of the economy.

  10. In my opinion, this video is a kindergarten-level lesson on modern politics. The penny demonstration was effective in presenting the problem at hand, especially for those who are visual learners. I think that looking deeper into it, the cutting of the penny is kind of symbolic in a way. A penny is already the most insignificant of all of our monetary value, and him cutting it is symbolizing the "cutting of spending". Although I don't believe the maker of this video made the video with the intention of making it seem like Americans are stupid as the most prominent idea, rather he was mainly bashing the President undermining the intelligence the people of the country he is supposedly "leading".

  11. I believe this video is highlighting the propaganda that the government uses today. He uses the technique of showing all the pennies to explain how little the government is doing while they make out to be a big deal and make it seem like they are doing something that will actually make a difference

  12. hello, this is cody, using preston/s account, cause im lazy. my opinion on this video, is that he had a unique way of confronting some of the major issues in our government, in a way that many more people will understand and be interested in. as far as the actually problem that is being dealt with, i believe it is lame. sure, everything has to begin somewhere, but when it takes you that long to do that little, you know something is wrong. thats all i have to say, :)

  13. This video just strengthens my feelings for Obama. He seems to think that spending money is the cure for everything, and people have recently brought this idea into the media. For this reason he decides that it is important to make a $100 million budget cut. Because we are already over $800 BILLION in debt, this miniscule $100 million will barely make a dent in this huge deficite.

  14. I definitely agree with the guy who made the video. he gets his point across and shows Obamas faults and weaknesses. I feel like he should be focused on bigger problems than this. Yes, a 100 million sounds like alot of money but really its a a small amount. I feel like Obama is taking action on less important things like this just so we as Americans think he is doing alot when in reality he is doing very little to help the country.
